(DTT) This technique has been reported on during the last few years and is the most intriguing demonstration that allows for the noninvasive racking of neuronal fiber projections in a living human brain. White matter fiber trajectories are reconstructed throughout the brain by tracking the direction of fastest diffusion, which is assumed to correspond to the longitudinal axis of the tract. Diffusion tensor tractography should provide new insights into white matter integrity, fiber connectivity, surgical planning, and patients prognosis. (DESS) This sequence was originally known as FADE. It combines both the gradient echoes acquired in FISP and PSIF sequences in separate acquisition periods during a single interpulse interval.
Phase encoding gradients are balanced to m aint ain the transverse steady state signals.
The frequency encoding gradient is left on for the period of both the echoes, and is incompletely balanced to avoid dark banding artifacts otherwise associated with long TR fully balanced steady state sequences.
The contrast of DESS is quite unique, true T2 or T1 contrast weighting is not possible. There is a strong fluid signal but fat is bright and other soft tissues appear similar to the short TR FISP image.
Used for, e.g. the joints, cartilage and the prostate.

(Dy) The Dysprosium chelates are analogs of the extracellular gadolinium chelates, with substitution of the dysprosium ion for the gadolinium ion and offers advantages in application on first pass studies.
The use of a dysprosium-based contrast agent (Dy-type) instead of a gadolinium-type (Gd-type) is an alternative in cases of a disrupted blood brain barrier. Because of its much smaller T1 enhancement, this contrast agent should give more accurate perfusion calculations in brain MRI. | | | | • View the NEWS results for 'Dysprosium' (1).

'MRI system is not an expensive equipment anymore.
ENCORE developed by ISOL Technology is a low cost MRI system with the advantages like of the 1.0T MRI scanner. Developed specially for the overseas market, the ENCORE is g aining popularity in the domestic market by medium sized hospitals.
Due to the optimum RF and Gradient application technology. ENCORE enables to obt ain high resolution imaging and 2D/3D Angio images which was only possible in high field MR systems.'
- Less consumption of the helium gas due to the ultra-lightweight magnet specially designed and manufactured for ISOL.
- Cost efficiency MR system due to air cooling type (equivalent to permanent magnetic).
- Patient processing speed of less than 20 minutes.'
