Contrast MRA COW. |
Just started a new job and the tech there insists on injecting with a butterfly then coming out and running a 3D MRA of the Head. Has anyone ever heard of this? I have done carotids but not Circle of willis. If there is such a thing please let me know your Protocol. I am open to any suggestions on the Carotids to. She injects them with a butterfly as well and what a mess. Help I just got back on GE echospeed after 5 yrs and no manual. Just a crazy tech. Please help.

Like lily lily we use a muliphase MRA with 3 phases (artery, portal vein and late phase).
We use an amount of 30 ml Gadolinium with an injection rate of 5 ml/sec. With this high flow rate, you get a more concentrated bolus and therefore a higher contrast for the second phase. We use CENTRA k-space acquisition and reduce the scan time with SENSE (a parallel imaging technique like ASSET ), this will help for a better timing.

Temperature Monitoring |
The ideal solution for temperature monitoring during MRI is by using a fibre optic temperature monitoring system.
Fibre optic has inherent distinctive advantages as they are intrinsically safe, 100% immunity to EMI and RFI hence, the temperature reading is reliable.
They are a few manufacturers for this type of system with varying price range but one thing to note is to find out if the system is suitable for human physiological use. Most systems have not gained FDA or other regulations approvals for clinical use.
System and sensor accuracy, repeatability and packaging are also important factors to keep note of.

3T Pulsoxymeter |
Hi,
we look for a monitoring system for our 3T scanner. Which pulsoxymeter works well at high fields and is certified for 3T? We will use this pulsoxymeter mostly for examinations of children. Any good experience?
Thanks Lynn
