Can a pancoast tumor show up on a cervical spine MRI? |
I think yes, sagital plan can give you a sign on left or right side (T1W, TW2), then on coronal plan and with thicker slices you can localize it (like doing a brachio plexus exam).

why there is T2* but not T1* |
i just reread your question and realize what you are saying, i was told we dont use a t1* becuase generally a t1 sequence isnt a pathological sequence unless it is post contrast.

what do we see in this image |
without having a T1 image to compare, it would be harder to be for sure...
But since it looks like the outter skin on the head, my guess would be a mole? (also could be small cystic lesion or fat in nature, but again hard to say without more images)

Brain T2FS postcontrast |
Gadolinium relaxation times are too short for T2 weighted imaging, so T2 weighted is not tipically performed after contrast (unless used as a delay to give contrast time to peak before T1 FS is obtained).
Also I have never worked at any facility that uses T2 fat sat imaging on the brain. Not a whole lot of fat in the brain region!
FLAIR imaging is the norm...but I could stand corrected.
