(MINIP) A projection image, which is obtained from a 3D data set by selecting the minimum intensity along lines or rays that cut through the 3D image volume. This function is used as a postprocessing method for black blood MRA images.

(MC) Multiple 3D Volumes (chunks) joined together in 1 scan. Used for 3D TOF angiography. 3D TOF MRA is acquired with 3D FT slabs or multiple overlapping thin 3D FT slabs depending on the coverage required and the range of flow-velocities under examination.
Also called multiple overlapping thin slab slice acquisition (MOTSA) or multi slab.

MultiHance® is a paramagnetic contrast agent for use in diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the liver and central nervous system. MultiHance® is a small molecular weight chelate, which tightly binds the Gd atom. The substance is excreted partly by the kidneys, partly by the biliary system, which is especially unique.
MultiHance® is indicated, for the detection of focal liver lesions in patients with known or suspected primary liver cancer (e.g. hepatocellular carcinoma) or metastatic disease.
MultiHance® is also indicated in brain MRI and spine MRI where it improves the detection of lesions and provides diagnostic information additional to that obtained with unenhanced MRI.
Gd-BOPTA-enhanced MRA can provide superior vascular signal intensity and SNR, as compared with Gd-DTPA, due to its higher relaxivity, even at lower doses.

WARNING: NEPHROGENIC SYSTEMIC FIBROSIS Gadolinium-based contrast agents increase the risk for nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF) in patients with acute or chronic severe renal insufficiency (glomerular filtration rate less than 30 mL/min/1.73m²), or acute renal insufficiency of any severity due to the hepato-renal syndrome or in the perioperative liver transplantation period.

(M2DMRA) The M2D technique can be used to image both fast and slow flow, due to good refreshment of flowing blood. Using overlapping slices can reduce staircase artifacts, which might be seen in projection of the slice thickness.

(MOTSA) This technique combines the best features of 2D time of flight angiography (2D TOF) and 3D TOF MRA. The MOTSA technique consists of multiple 2 cm thick 3D TOF slabs (which minimize saturation effects for through plane flow) combine to provide unlimited coverage similar to multiple 2D TOF slices. High resolution imaging of the carotid arteries is possible when image quality is of greater concern than acquisition time. Images with 1 mm (or less) spatial resolution in all three planes are required. The slabs typically overlap 25-40 to minimize the venetian blind artifact venetian blind artifact due to minimal saturation effects. MOTSA is an useful technique for the evaluation of vertebrobasilar ischemia and aneurysm scanning from the foramen magnum through the circle of Willis.
