The range of signal intensities that may need to be distinguished in an image or spectrum or that can be distinguished by the electronic components. If the signal dynamic range is too great, the need to keep the highest intensities from overloading the digitizer may result in the weaker features being lost in the digitization noise. This can be dealt with by using an analog to digital converter with a larger range of sensitivity or by using techniques to reduce the dynamic range, e.g. suppressing the signal from water in order to detect the signal from less abundant compounds. | | | | • View the DATABASE results for 'Dynamic Range' (7).

Multiplication of the time-dependent signal data by an exponential function, exp(t/TC), where t is time and TC is a parameter called the time constant (in spectroscopy).
The time constant can be chosen to either improve the signal to noise ratio (with a negative TC) or decrease the effective spectral line width (with a positive TC) in the resulting spectrum. The use of a negative TC to improve SNR is equivalent to line broadening by convolving the spectrum with a Lorentzian function of corresponding reciprocal width. | | | | • View the DATABASE results for 'Exponential Weighting' (2).

The company is a leading manufacturer and developer of magnetic resonance imaging ( MRI) scanners.
The Patient Friendly MRI Company, formed in 1978, is engaged in the business of inventing, manufacturing, selling and servicing magnetic resonance imaging ( MRI) scanners. FONAR is the oldest MRI company in the world. After receiving hundreds of millions in a windfall from protecting their MRI patents, they made a MRI scanner that no other MRI manufacturer has. One that the patient stands in and they call Indomitable, the Stand-Up MRI. Patients like it because it is the least claustrophobic, most comfortable MRI on the market. Doctors like it because of its superior image quality and for the first time, the patient can be scanned in the weight-bearing position, or the position of pain or symptom. In October of 2004, the company changed the product name of the Stand-Up MRI to the Upright MRI. Fonar introduced the first "open" MRI scanner in 1980 and is the originator of the iron-core nonsuperconductive and permanent magnet technology.
MRI Scanners:
