Short name: Gd-EOB-DTPA, generic name: Gadoxetic acid, chemical compound: Gadolinium ethoxybenzyl diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid
Primovist™ (formerly Eovist®) is a nonionic water-soluble liver tissue-specific MRI contrast agent with positive enhancement. The agent allows detection and differentiation of hepatic tumors due to specific uptake by healthy liver tissue, but not by tumors in the affected organ. Gd-EOB-DTPA has hepatocyte-specific properties, but provides earlier perfusion information acquired within first ten minutes. Hepatocyte uptake generally occurs beyond 10 minutes. | | | | | Further Reading: | | Basics:

(IVIM) Spins moving in fluids with different velocities and possibly in different directions.
This is being found to a small degree in all tissues as a result of capillary perfusion or diffusion. Important velocity changes occur as one moves from the vessel wall towards the center of the vessel.
Hence, spins (to a variable degree) have different velocities within a single imaging voxel.
This effect can be measured using special pulse sequences such as in diffusion imaging or diffusion weighed imaging. When the velocity differences are marked, as occurs in larger blood vessels, effects due to IVIM are visible in standard MR images and give rise to flow related dephasing. The effects are more visible when longer echo times are used. | | | | • View the DATABASE results for 'Intravoxel Incoherent Motion' (3).

(LITT) Laser induced thermo therapy is a therapeutically destruction of tumor or metastasis tissue with a thermolaser. Malignant tissue reacts very sensitive to heat. The heating of the malignant tissue results in a degeneration or coagulation and the death of the malignant cells by temperatures from 45 °C to 99 °C.
Induced thermal damage can be variable and unpredictable due to thermally induced changes in tissue thermal and blood perfusion. The affection can be controlled by thermo sensitive MRI sequences. The temperature can be monitored during the procedure and MR imaging following the procedure shows how effectively the tumor is damaged. | | | | | Further Reading: | Basics:
