To calculate the Proton Density Fat Fraction (PDFF) from MRI images of the liver acquired using LMS IDEAL (Iterative Decomposition of Water and Fat with Echo Asymmetry and Least Squares Estimation) with optimized low flip angles, you'll typically have multiple image sets corresponding to different echoes. The fat and water signals are separated based on their chemical shift differences. Look for image sets labeled as Water, Fat, or PDFF (Proton Density Fat Fraction). Depending on the software or DICOM tags used, the images may be explicitly labeled, or you may need to review the sequence parameters to determine which set corresponds to fat or water.

Hello,
I'm experiencing a specific issue with my knee and would appreciate any insights. When I straighten my knee, I feel a friction sensation at the junction of the tibia behind the knee. This sensation of friction is very close to the area of pain, which seems to be deep and difficult to pinpoint accurately.
Here's a summary of my medical reports and symptoms:
First MRI Report Findings:
Chronic damage to the posterior cruciate ligament.
Patellofemoral wear and tear.
I suspect these findings are related to my symptoms.
Additional Information:
A CT scan showed swelling in the anterior cruciate ligament.
Pain Description:
The pain starts from the middle of the knee joint and gradually spreads to the right popliteal fossa (back of the knee).
I experience this pain continuously for 24 hours.
Other Symptoms:
Along with the onset of these symptoms, I've noticed an unusually large amount of hair loss, which I suspect might be due to ongoing inflammation.
I'm seeking advice or insights from anyone who might have had similar experiences or from medical professionals who can shed some light on these symptoms and the MRI findings.

Hello,
I dont know if anyone has, for him/herself, answered this question. I know it is an old thread. But this is the question which also botheres me the most in NMR/MRI.
I refer now to a picture, which is illustrated in the book from Tim Claridge (High resolution NMR techniques).
Here, a RF pulse (lets say a 90 degree pulse) is said to have two effects on the initial z-magnetisation. First, it allows energy transfer between the two Zeeman-states in a way, that i equalizes the population difference between them. So there is no z- magnetisation anymore after 90 degree pulse. Th esecond effect is, that it induces phase-coherence. And this phase coherence is then responsible for the x-magnetisation, which is measured.
And now I have the same question. Why is this phase coherence lost (or is it not?), when applying an initial 180-degree pulse. Understandable for me is, why the population difference in z is reversed, but I dont understand, why there is no xy magnetisation anymore.
Maybe some of you have figured out the answer in the meantime?
