Building 3d Volumes from MRI DICOM |
In almost all cases, MRI images have a slice thickness far greater than their in-plane resolution, making multiplanar reconstruction meaningless. Also, most MRI images have a gap between the slices, which also renders multiplanar meaningless and impossible (unless you're happy with black bars where the slice gaps exist).
You can look at your images and the slice thickness is on the graphics. the slice gap is usually not displayed, but if you look at the slice location displayed on adjacent slices, and compare to the slice thickness, you can easily compute the slice gap.
The in-place resolution is (approx) the field of view divided by the acquisition matrix, both of which are also printed on the image somewhere.
By the way, if you have the dicom (.dcm) files, there is lots of data that's 'hidden' that you can access with a full featured dicom file editor.

Dynamic data of MRI |
i almost forgot this post, but the data are still desired! i'm in the research of dynamic mri reconstruction algorithms, maybe we can communicate someday, my email: yingjie.mei@gamil.com.
Thx for ur help.

Dynamic data of MRI |
Hi,everybody. I'm now programming about reconstruction of parallel MRI, but the only problem is that I don't have any dynamic data, so can anyone tell me how can I get the data?

New type of job for CT/MR Tech. |
I've done lots of reconstruction work with Vitrea and the Siemens Leonardo workstation. My impression is that being a good reconstructive tech takes technical know how but your product (images)are heavily influenced by your creativity. Thouroughput is greatly improved with sufficient software knowlege too.
Being quick and skilled at 3D recon does take time and experience. Can you do it, yes.
I'd be really careful about jumping into a serious job and being thrown like 40 cases a day or something like that. If they are willing to work with you than it's good oportunity.

New type of job for CT/MR Tech. |
I have been an MR Tech. for about 11 years now. CT for 4 years. I have pretty much always had a job scanning the bread-and-butter type of exams. I recently saw a job opening for a CT/MR Tech. who pretty much just does 3D reconstructions all day long. Not much scanning. I am interested in this type of job but haven't done much 3D stuff. Would I qualify for this type of job or is there a lot of training/experience that this job would require in 3D applications?
