Hyperintense blood vessels in SE |
Prolonged T1 relaxation times, decreased T1 tissue contrast, and increased susceptibility rnare typical effects at high field MRI.rnDue to the longer T1 times at 3T, the signal rnintensity inside the vessels is preserved even in smaller vessels. Try TR 700, TE 10.rnInversion recovery sequences are very well suited for optimal gray to white matter contrast, but enhancement after administration of gadolinium may not be visible.

The contrast agent causes this difference. Contrast agents reduce the T1 time in tissues where they have accumulated depending on blood flow and vascular permeability. Caused by this, tissues after an application of contrast agents will differ in shortening of the T1 time, and the same imaging parameters result in other image appearance.

3T imaging parameters |
At 3T the T1 time is longer (so the TR should also be longer) and the T2 time is shorter (TE can be shorter). However, when we got a 3T machine we tested different TR and TE's and found out that in practice the useful range don't has a big difference from that of a 1.5T MR system.
The contrast looks a bit different - that's normal.
In addition, ask the manufacturer.
There are a lot of other parameters that affect the contrast in 3T.
Hope this will help
